ADVENTURE CAMPS FOR YOUTH
Adventure Camp
Adventure Camps are five-day immersive experiences in the outdoors that includes camping, backpacking and other outdoor skills. Each day builds on the skills learned the day before beginning with instructional sessions on basic camping skills: gear, first aid and personal hygiene followed by the practical: campsite selection; tent or hammock set-up; packing the backpack and fire safety.
Leadership Skills
Incorporated throughout the experience are leadership lessons based on nature examples that encourage team building, decision making, communication and planning. Opportunities abound for the youth to apply these
leadership principles throughout the camp experience.
Backpacking Skills
Instructional sessions include navigation, water filtration, Leave No Trace, food selection and management, local geology and safety issues followed by the practical: a two-day, two-night trek in the national forest putting the new skills into practice.
High Adventure Activities
The last day of the camp experience offers a unique opportunity for the campers to operate as a performing team in a different high adventure experience such as kayaking, rock climbing or horse back riding.
